<영단 발음 기초이론(1)>

영어 단어는 어떻게 읽어지는가 하는 것이 발음법이다.

이런 원칙이 통하는 단어가 있는 반면 예외도 많다.

그러나 일단 원칙을 알고 예외는 발음부호를 보고 읽어야 한다.

한글 : 소리글자임으로 발음부호가 없다

1) 자음과 모음을 묶어서 발음한다.

2) 철자가 같으면 같은 음이 난다.

3) 철자가 같아도 길게 발음 하는 경우가 있다.

예 : 말(馬) =>말, 말(言語) =>마알

4) 단어에 음절이나 강세가 없다.

예 : 바구니 (*처음(바)부터 끝(니)까지 높낮이 없이 읽는다.)

영어 : 단어(글)를 말로 옮기는 기준인 발음부호가 있어 이걸로 읽는다.

1) 자모음 상관없이 단어에 쓰인 알파벳순으로 하나씩 모두를 읽는다.

많지는 않지만 두 자가 하나로 발음 되는 경우가 있다.

2) 철자는 달라도 발음이 같은 경우가 있고,

예 : to/tu:/, two/tu:/

3) 철자는 같은데 뜻이 달라지면 발음도 달라지는 것이 있다.

예 : rec.ord/rék.ərd/ [명] 기록 re.cord/ri.kɔ́:rd/ [동] 기록하다,

4) 두 음절 이상 단어는 음절과 강세가 있어

강 음절은 약 음절에 비해 높게 힘을 줘 읽는다. 예 : bas.ket/bǽs.kit/
